Roma players teased Afena-Gyan for wearing fake trainers but he’ll play at the World Cup and they won’t – Mourinho

Head Coach of AS Roma Jose Mourinho has explained why some players within his squad used to tease Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan.

The youngster who broke into the Roma set up this season has been in good form scoring two goals for the side.
Jose explaining why he bought a pair of sneakers for the youngster, he went into the details.
“He didn’t have a contract, he was always coming with fake trainers and the other guys used to tease him so when he scored the winning goal I said this is your time. Now he’s having fun because he’s going to play at the World Cup with Ghana and the other guys won’t”
Felix Afena Gyan, 18, made his debut for the Black Stars against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoff in Kumasi in the first leg.
Afena-Gyan 18, exploded into life in the Serie A after his exploits with AS Roma.
The teenager was given the opportunity by Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho and has since been showcasing his incredible talent whenever he’s given the chance.
Despite his exploits, he is yet to start a game for Roma, mostly coming on for English forward Tammy Abraham.
